Breaking: N-power addresses participants

N-power, the federal government’s employment scheme, has addressed participants over different issues and has also given updates on the 2017 pre-selected candidates.

In a Facebook LIVE chat with Afolabi Imoukhuede, senior special assistant to the president on job creation (N-Power Scheme), N-power encouraged participants to save for investment and plan ahead since the scheme is only for two years.

He also spoke on the reasons behind the recent deductions in stipends of some participants.

Going further, he gave reasons for the delay in stipends, noting that the budget plays a prominent role in the scheme's financing. He said budget is not always equal to releases. He said the scheme don't get 500 million released immediately.

He also said the money to run the scheme is not in his pocket because it is owned by the government. He said the timing of the release is the reason of the delay. He claimed the scheme is not owing anybody because the federal government always release money eventually.

He also said the scheme has maintained enough integrity for participants to no longer doubt. He however promised to clear all backlogs of stipends.

Speaking on the pre-selected candidates, he said he empathized with them but the scheme don't want to struggle in paying them and that is why they have not been finally selected. He said they have not lost sight of them.

He urged them to hold faith and said they will try to make it happen in the second quarter and also promised that they will get their necessary things faster unlike the 2016 applicants.

Specifically, Imoukhuede said within 2 weeks, names of successful candidates will be announced. He said this will be a form of compensating for the pre-selected candidates.

However, he said the release of names does not translate to immediate deployment but only to give access to some of the scheme's materials.
