Annkio Briggs applauds Danjuma for speaking against herdsmen attacks

Former minister of defence, Theophilus Danjuma (retd), has been commended by Niger Delta activist, Annkio Briggs, over his call on Nigerians to rise and defend themselves.

Vanguard reports that the convener of the Niger Delta Self-Determination Movement (NDSDM) in a statement on Monday, March 26, said that Danjuma stood for equity, justice and truth by speaking against what she called ethnic and religious cleansing.

She said: "Sir, you have stood up for liberty, equity, justice and truth. We believe you (Danjuma) have led the way and we expect other retired military officers will emulate and join you in saying no to evil.

“By standing up for the reality, you have joined us in the justified process of defending the defenceless to say no to ethnic and religious cleansing.

“We are equal in this country and we must live together on equal terms. If we can’t live together equally and peacefully, then we must live apart.”

In a related report, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, March 26, said he agreed with former minister of defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), recent calls for Nigerians to pick up arms in self defence against killer herdsmen and bandits.

Danjuma, while speaking at the maiden convocation of the Taraba State University, said the Nigerian Army is biased in defending the masses and urged Nigerians to take up self defence.

Punch reports that Wike said Danjuma's call for self defence is the right thing and added that he would begin a fasting and prayer session for the former minister of defence.
