Alhaji Abdulfatah, Kwara state governor, has dismissed claims that he is planning to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he left with some other chieftains of the party before the 2015 general elections.

This was made known to news men through the governor's senior special assistant on media and communications, Muyideen Akorede, in Ilorin on Tuesday, January 30, Vanguard reports.

The governor noted that Senate President Bukola Saraki and other political leaders in Kwara have no intention or reason to return to the PDP or join any other political party unless they are asked to do so by supporters.

Governor Ahmed also stated that the insinuations, which arose from his recent interview with a newspaper, did not suggest that he was planning to decamp from APC. Instead, he said he was stating the conditions under which he left the PDP.

He emphasized that he, Saraki and other governors left the PDP due to impunity, disregard for the rule of law and lack of inclusiveness in the party at the time following extensive consultations with stakeholders and supporters.

The governor also urged those commenting on the matter to read the said interview properly, rather than relying on social media headlines and insinuations to draw uninformed conclusions.

Governor Ahmed also advised his detractors within APC that are urging him and Senator Bukola Saraki to hasten their exit from the party to educate themselves with that interview and be appropriately informed instead of making misguided comments on issues they know nothing about.

He restated his complete support for the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari and commended him for his strides in governing the country and for the unprecedented federal projects in Kwara State, which he added, were aided by the intervention of Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The governor also maintained that his administration is fully committed to fulfilling his electoral promises to Kwarans across all sectors, and refuses to be distracted by controversial commentaries and political mischief.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Kwara state caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), named caucus for progressive change, had offered to provide a quick exit for Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to leave the party.

The party came to its conclusion after the governor was quoted as saying he and his political family would dump the APC if their supporters asked them to do so.
