Italian side AS Roma have defeated English Premier League side Chelsea 3-0 in their matchday 4 UEFA Champions League clash in Rome, Italy.

The host got the opener in the 1st minute of the game when Edin Dzeko heads the ball into the path of Stephan El Shaarawy before he drives in an effort that is too powerful for the Thibaut Courtois to keep out, making the score 1-0.

Stephan El Shaarawy doubled the lead for the host in the 36th minute as he showed good awareness inside the box to latches on to a brilliant pass and fires a first-time shot inside the right post. Radja Nainggolan assisted in the goal.

Diego Perotti made it three for the Roma in the 63rd minute as he rounds off a sensational solo effort with a shot from about 20 metres out. The ball slams precisely into the bottom left corner, leaving the goalkeeper beaten.

In other UEFA Champions League matchday 4 Manchester United defeated Benfica 2-0, Paris Saint-Geramain thrashed Belgian side Anderlecht 5-0, Bayern Munich defeated Celtic 1-2.
