APC overrules suspension of Banire by party’s local chapter
- The All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has not sacked Muiz Banire as its national legal adviser
- The party said Banire was not suspended by the party as widely reported
- The APC said Banire can only be suspended by the national executive committee of the party
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, July 28, announced that Muiz Banire is still the party national legal adviser.
The APC also reassured that it has not suspended Banire over any form of anti-party activities.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson for the APC Bolaji Abdullahi said Banire can only be suspended by the national executive committee of the party.
“The attention of the national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to the purported suspension of the party’s national legal adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN) by the party’s executive committee in Mushin local government area of Lagos state,” Abdullahi said.

The APC spokesperson said the 'purported suspension of Banire is a nullity as the local chapter of the party does not have the powers to suspend him.
He also said the party's constitution has made provision that such powers only reside with NEC.
“The party advises that whatever issues there might be, our party structure and constitution provide ample avenues for redress and dispute resolution.

“If the local chapter is unable to achieve a resolution, the NWC can and will wade in the matter to achieve amicable settlement," he said.
Legit.ng earlier reported that APC had sacked Banire following allegations of anti-party activities.

Banire's sack was announced after Ward C, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos were he belonged recommended that he should be suspended.
He was also accused by the working against the party in the just concluded Lagos local government election.
