Presidency says Governor El-Rufai is on top of things in southern Kaduna.

The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has said Muhammadu Buhari will refrain from talking about the recent killings in southern Kaduna.

Adesina speaking on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television on Monday morning, December 26, said there was no need for President Buhari to talk on the issue since Governor El-Rufai was already handling the situation.

"Why should the president be talking about (Kaduna)? Governor El-Rufai is on top of things," Adesina said when asked about Buhari’s stance on the recent killings in the area.

Recall at least 10 persons were confirmed dead with several houses razed after gunmen attacked Goska village in Kaninkon Chiefdom of Jema’a in Kaduna State despite of 24 hours curfew imposed on three Kaduna State Local Government Areas of Jema’a, Kaura and Zango Kataf.

The attack reportedly occurred took place around 7pm on Saturday evening as villagers were preparing for evening church service to mark Christmas eve.

In a related development, the federal government is preparing to set up two more military formations in the southern part of Kaduna state, Nigerian Tribune reports.

This was revealed to the press by governor of the state Nasir El-Rufai late on Wednesday, December 21.

El-Rufai said the state government has been assured by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministry of Defence and Chief of Army Staff (CAS) that military formations will be located in the area.

These assurances, El Rufai said, came after the state government made the request in the bid to protect lives and properties in that part of the state.
