He served as military Head of State (1976–1979), overseeing Nigeria’s transition to civilian rule, and as elected President (1999–2007) under the People’s Democratic Party, stabilising Nigeria’s economy and democracy.

A retired army general, he played a key role in ending the Nigerian Civil War. Obasanjo founded the Bells University of Technology and runs a successful farm.

An influential statesman, he’s mediated African conflicts and authored books like My Watch. His awards include the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR). Despite controversies, his legacy in governance and peacebuilding endures.
