  • Pep Guardiola will be without five players from his squad, including two players who joined in the summer

Arsenal hosting Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium is one of the biggest Premier League fixtures this weekend, but the match could miss some key players.

Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 while City won by the same scoreline against Manchester United last week. Both sides won 2-0 against Athletic Bilbao and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Six points and four goals separate the two sides on the Premier League table after four matches, and the Reds could either extend their lead or the Citizens close up the gap.

11 players could miss Arsenal vs City

According to Mirror UK, both sides could be without 11 players for this weekend’s fixture, which takes some quality off the match for the two teams.

Arsenal could potentially miss 6 key players, including long-term absentees Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, both of whom are still expected to spend an extended period out.

Arsenal's injury updates

The Arsenal quartet of captain Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Ben White and William Saliba are uncertain to make it for the crucial match on Sunday. Viktor Gyokeres and Mikel Merino, with head injuries in midweek, are passed fit.

Saliba has the highest chance of making it after he was an unused substitute during the 2-0 win over Bilbao following his return after the injury against Liverpool before the break.

However, Arteta will not rush the French international defender, particularly with the performance of new signing Cristhian Mosquera, who has deputised for him.

Odegaard, with a shoulder injury, Saka, with a hamstring problem and White, with a “minor issue”, are doubts for the match against City.

“If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow's session because they haven't done anything yet, so we'll have more information tomorrow,” Arteta told arsenal.com about the trio.

Manchester City’s injury updates

Pep Guardiola will certainly be without Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush, both of whom are out with lengthy injuries and not expected in action soon.

Kalvin Phillips, who was integrated into the squad after failing to secure a move away, is out with an Achilles problem, the same issue as Mateo Kovacic.

Defenders Rayan Ait-Nouri are doubts for the match, with the Englishman having a higher chance to feature than the Algerian international.
