Why Chukwueze missed Fulham vs Leeds clash
Meanwhile, Fulham manager Marco Silva disclosed why Chukwueze was not part of the squad that featured against Leeds United on Saturday.
The Nigerian international moved to the Premier League club on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Italian Serie A giants AC Milan on the summer transfer deadline day.
The Cottagers returned from the international break and squeezed out a 1-0 win against Leeds United thanks to Gabriel Gudmundsson’s 94th-minute own goal.
Brazilian star Kevin came off the bench and played 14 minutes; however, Chukwueze was not even in the matchday squad.
His international teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were in action as Fulham recorded their first win of the season.
Marco Silva disclosed that Chukwueze had not settled into the team as he only arrived on deadline day before making the trip to Nigeria for the World Cup qualifiers.
The manager said via the club's website:
"Before they go in, they need to understand what they have to do in each moment of the game and all that, they need time.
"I will give you one example. It was almost impossible for Chukwueze to be involved in this game because he doesn't even know the names of all his teammates."
