Eight minutes later, it was 2-0 courtesy of a fine finish by Tyrell Warren, with United having no answers in the first 45 minutes.
Coach Amorim made tactical changes in the second half, introducing Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Matthijs De Light.
The Red Devils kept mounting the pressure, but it was not until the 75th minute that Mbeumo pulled one back to reduce the deficit.
Defender Harry Maguire then restored parity with just moments left on the clock, forcing the game to head into a penalty shootout, per Mirror.
Manchester United eventually succumbed to defeat via penalties, with summer signings Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo failing to convert during the shoot-out.
It has been an underwhelming start for the Old Trafford outfit, having failed to win any of their opening two league matches of the season.

"If any serious club had a manager like this they would instantly sack him, But we are Manchester United we get bum after bums as our managers .
"Bring me back to the sir Alex days. I am not totally Amorim out but if things get more complicated then yeah don’t get surprised if everyone uses the hashtag #AmorimOut."
@MartienBall posited:
"Amorim basically admitted that these players want me gone. Fine, let’s say he leaves. But what do we do about the fact that the players are pulling the same stunt again?
"They’re getting bored of managers and just deciding when it’s time to sack them. And we’re all okay with this? Do you honestly believe we’ll ever become a serious club by giving the players this entitlement?
"It’s the same cycle repeating itself. We might just accept we’re finished. Way better for our mental health."
