Chelsea: Nigerian female footballer Anthonia begs English club to sign her

Chelsea is a dream football club for any football player around the world and now Nigerian female footballer Fakiyesi Abisola Anthonia has sent the English club a message expressing her dream to play for the club.

In a series of tweets on her timeline via @Abiso_la, Anthonia is seen in the Chelsea home kit holding placards with inscriptions to attract the club.

She claimed she is an 18-year-old who plays either as an attacking midfielder or a striker, adding that although she can play with both legs, her right foot is stronger.

The female star tweeted at the club:

“I'm Anthonia, a female footballer. My family has been fans of this great club since I was little.
“And I dream of playing for this great club someday (my father's dream for me as well) I'll be very happy if I can get into Chelsea academy.”

Further search on her timeline showed her in footage playing alongside male footballers in her locality as she was seen dazzling the guys before left-footing the ball into the net.

Stamford Bridge club Chelsea has been home to several footballers from Nigeria including Celestine Babayaro, Mikel Obi, Kenneth Omeruo and Victor Moses who spent several years with the Blues' male team.

Only recently, Chelsea offered scholarships to talented Nigerians Derick Abu, Kelechi Cibueze and Prince Adegoke who joined the male academy for the 2021 season.

Abu was said to have snubbed Norwich City before joining Chelsea at U11 level following a successful trial.

Chibueze has been with Chelsea since the U8 age group, while fellow goalkeeper Adegoke joined the club at U13 level.

The two goalkeepers made the bench for U18 Premier League matches while they were still schoolboys.

Meanwhile, earlier reported that Asisat Oshoala who currently spearheads the Barcelona Ladies’ attack seems to be living the life of her dreams despite growing up in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state, Nigeria.

The four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year who, in January 2019, joined the Spanish outfit in an initial short term loan deal from Dalian Quanjian until the end of last season was rewarded with a permanent contract on June 1, 2019.

Her performances for the club earned her a two-year contract that will keep her in Catalonia until June 2022.
