Beckham Boosts France - Wenger

Former England captain Beckham, 37, who spent time training with the Gunners this week, joined PSG on a five-month deal on Thursday.

And Frenchman Wenger believes Beckham's profile will be a major asset to football in his native country.

"Beckham is a world brand and the eyes will be on him, and on PSG, therefore also on the French league while he is there," said Wenger. "I don't know if he had offers from all around the world, but PSG is not a bad choice because they are a very ambitious club, who have a lot of potential.

"They look to extend their reputation at the moment, and Beckham certainly is a good part in that."

Wenger joked that Beckham's move illustrates the quality Arsenal's training, saying: "It just shows you how efficient we are with our training sessions. He came here to practise once, and straight away he was bought by Paris St Germain."

Wenger is confident his own side can deliver over the remainder of what has been an inconsistent season for the Gunners, starting with a home game against Stoke on Saturday.

"I believe that we have top quality in our squad and that is what we want to show until the end of the season," he said. "The game against Liverpool (in which Arsenal came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2) shows the quality we have, but we also have some aspects in our game that we need to improve.

"When you play Stoke, you always expect a fierce resistance, a very committed game and unfortunately, you are never disappointed. You always get what you expect.

"I believe they have improved their technical quality as well, with players like Steven Nzonzi and Charlie Adam, therefore they have more variety in their game than they had in previous years."
