Five-time Champions League winner Cristiano Ronaldo has described Sir Alex Ferguson as his 'great friend'.

The 36-year-old played under the legendary manager for six years after joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in 2003.

He departed for Real Madrid in 2019 having won his first UCL title as well as his first Ballon d'Or awards at Old Trafford.

However, the relationship between these two remains as the current Juventus winger took to his Instagram page to promote the new documentary capturing the life and time of the Scot, saying:

Apart from their manager-player relationship, Ronaldo also considers Ferguson a father figure after playing a huge role in his career while growing up.

During his six-year reign at Old Trafford, Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearances in all competitions - winning three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and the 2008 Champions League trophy.

Ferguson stepped down as the Red Devils' manager in 2013 after winning 38 major titles including 13 Premier Leagues and two Champions Leagues among others and he has been regarded as the best manager of all-time according to a football website 90 min.
