David de Gea is reportedly set to beat Dean Henderson in the race to start for Man United during the club's Europa League final meeting with Villarreal.

The two goalkeepers have been trading roles through this season, with De Gea featuring in the latter stages of the European competition as Henderson assumed duties in the league.

Henderson has already made 25 appearances for United across competitions this season despite managing just three starts in the Premier League before March.

It seemed as though Henderson had replaced De Gea as United's no.1 in March, starting in the next nine league matches.

However, he was dropped for the Leicester game on May 11, before returning against Liverpool two days later where he endured a difficult afternoon when he shipped in four goals.

Mirror UK citing Manchester Evening News now reports De Gea is expected to keep his place when the Old Trafford dwellers take on Villarreal on Wednesday, May 26, in the Europa League final.

This comes amid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's admission there will be "loads of difficult calls" to make during the crucial tie.

"The whole squad has contributed so much. It's probably a different scenario with the 'keepers than it's normally been because they're both in and around the 30 [games] mark [this season]. Both have done really well. It's going to be difficult but I'll have to make other ones as well."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sweating over the fitness of three key players just days before the club's Europa League final.

United are scheduled to take on La Liga side Villarreal in the final of the European second-tier competition in Gdansk.

Having already sealed a second-place finish in the Premier League, the Red Devils will be desperate to win the Europa title to crown their fantastic season.
