Dolores Aveiro who is the mother of Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has explained that she feared losing her life last year when she suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital.
The heartbreaking incident happened on March 3 throwing Cristiano Ronaldo and his other family members into serious tension.
In fact, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had to travel to to his country where he spent days with his mother in the hospital.
Luckily for Cristiano Ronaldo and his family, his mother was discharged from the hospital after three weeks on the bed and the doctors continued their treatments at home.
According to the report on UK Sun, the 66-year-old has now thanked all the doctors who attended to her in efforts to save her life.
"A year ago today I saw my life almost running between my fingers.
"And luckily I managed to hold on to a light, a light that pulled me up, a light that stubbornly insisted that it was just another obstacle to be overcome and another story of overcoming to tell.
"I never spoke openly about what actually happened, just because I recovered to almost 100 per cent people think that nothing happened or that the scare I gave my children and those who really love me was small."
