Gusau, Zamfara state - Abubakar Muhammad, popularly known on social media as Sarki Sultan, has called for the resignation of Bello Matawalle, minister of state for defence.
In a recent social media post seen by Legit.ng, Muhammad asked Matawalle to resign due to the security challenge affecting Nigeria.

His statement titled 'Urgent Call for the Resignation of the Minister of State for Defence', reads on his known X (formerly Twitter) page:
“Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, We, concerned and patriotic citizens of Nigeria, respectfully urge you to demand the immediate resignation of the Minister of State for Defence. The minister has consistently failed to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to him, undermining the safety and security of our nation. We implore Your Excellency to act swiftly to address this critical issue, ensuring the protection of innocent Nigerians from preventable harm and loss of life. Your decisive action is vital to restoring confidence in our nation’s leadership and safeguarding the well-being of our people.”
Legit.ng reports that Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara, has been accused of undermining efforts to find a solution to the insecurity crises in the state and other northern parts of Nigeria.
On Friday morning, September 26, at least five worshippers were shot dead when bandits attacked a mosque during early morning prayers in Yandoto village, Tsafe local government area (LGA) of Zamfara.
The attack sent a shock wave across the community.

Witnesses told Daily Trust that the assailants stormed the mosque and opened fire indiscriminately, killing five people on the spot and leaving many others with gunshot wounds.
A resident, who spoke under condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the attackers also abducted an unspecified number of worshippers before fleeing into a nearby forest.
Northern group stands with Matawalle
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that an advocacy group, the Northern Socio-Political Rights Network (NSPRN), disclosed that it rejected an offer of N200 million from proxies linked to the Zamfara state government to organise a protest against President Tinubu and Matawalle.
In a statement, Mohammed Farouk Lawal, president of the NSPR Network, said that emissaries allegedly acting on behalf of the Zamfara state government approached the group with an offer to mobilise a large-scale protest in Abuja.
