Abeokuta, Ogun state - Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Obi said during the visit, he discussed the state of the nation with the ex-president alongside Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Yunusa Tanko.

The former Anambra governor added that discussions also focused on how all Nigerians can live together in unity, love, fairness, and justice.
Obi said in a statement he signed and shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle:
"The meeting make me believe that coming together of a competent team with capacity, compassion, and commitment to build a new Nigeria that is possible."

Obi meets Olubadan-designate Ladoja
In the same vein, Obi underscored the importance of Ibadanland to the human and capital development of the country.
Obi said this when he paid a visit to the Olubadan-designate and former governor of Oyo, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, at his Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan residence, on Sunday, September 14.

He said the socio-economic and political history of Nigeria would not be complete without mentioning Ibadan, adding that Ibadanland had always played a pivotal role in both the socio-economic and political history of Nigeria.
This Day quoted Obi as saying:
“It is expected that his wealth of experience will be brought to bear in his new royal assignment as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. Oba Ladoja will enjoy the support of all and sundry across the country in his new assignment.
“On my part, I will render necessary assistance to make the reign of Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan successful.”
Legit.ng reports that Ladoja served as the governor of Oyo state from 2003 to 2006, and from 2006 to 2007. He was impeached in January 2006 and reinstated in December 2006.
Following the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, Ladoja was announced as the incoming Olubadan on July 7, 2025.
On August 21, Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, officially approved Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan-designate and scheduled a formal coronation ceremony for Friday, September 26, at Mapo Hall in the ancient city.

Obi fumes over grid collapse
Earlier, Obi criticised Nigeria's frequent national grid collapses, particularly under President Bola Tinubu's administration.
Obi reminded the public that President Tinubu declared in 2022 that if he fails to give Nigerians constant electricity in the next four years, citizens should not vote for him for a second term.
