According to the lawyer identified as @theomonilelawyer, the owner of the property does not visit Nigeria often.
After buying the property, the owner kept a gateman there to look after the house.
However, the gateman ended up selling the property in connivance with a real estate developer.
After the house was sold, the gateman was given N15 million as his own share of the N175 million.
When the real owner of the house returned, she discovered that someone else was occupying the property.
The story goes:
"After the purchase, she retained the same gateman assigned by the developer to “watch over” her house. She even began sending him money monthly for upkeep and maintenance. What she didn’t know was that the very same gateman had secretly made photocopies of the title documents when the house was still under the developer."
The lawyer said the gateman was able to forge the documents of the house and sold it to a new owner.
He said:
"With the help of a fake developer, they cloned the Governor’s Consent of the former developer, changed the face of the real seller, and resold her property for ₦175 MILLION NAIRA to a new unsuspecting buyer.
"She involved the Police and after many months traced the Gateman to Benue State before he confessed. Today, the matter is in court. The buyer of the fake documents and the original owner are fighting a bitter legal battle. The real criminal is gone."
