Kogi: Tears as Top Monarch Kawu Dies, “A Huge Loss”
- Aminu Kawu Akuh, the paramount ruler of Elaite, in Ajaokuta local government area (LGA) of Kogi state, Aminu Kawu Akuh, is dead

Ajaokuta, Kogi state - Alhaji Aminu Akuh Kawu, the paramount ruler of Elaite in Ajaokuta local government area (LGA) of Kogi state, is dead.
Legit.ng reports that Kawu's death was confirmed on Saturday, September 12, by Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SD)P candidate in the 2023 Kogi election.

Aminu Akuh Kawu dead
Ajaka wrote across his known social media pages:
"I mourn the passing of HRH Alhaji Aminu Kawu Akuh, the Paramount Ruler of Elaite in Ajaokuta LGA. He was a man of peace, wisdom, and selfless service, whose life was dedicated to the well-being of his people. His death is indeed, a huge loss to the traditional institution, to Kogi State, and to Nigeria as a whole.

"My heartfelt condolences to his family, the people of Elaite, and the entire Ajaokuta community. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen."
The late monarch was buried in accordance with Islamic rites on Thursday, September, 11.
In 2016, Kawu was kidnapped close to his domain while returning from Adogo headquarters of Ajaokuta.
Speaking shortly after his release in his palace where he had been receiving visitors, the monarch expressed gratitude to God, the then state governor Yahaya Bello and the people of his domain, for his safe release.

He told Channels Television that his abductors, on discovery that he was a traditional ruler, treated him well throughout his captivity.
The paramount ruler also said that no ransom was paid to the abductors.
After his abduction, his family said the abductors had demanded for 10 million Naira as ransom.
A day after he was kidnapped, Bello declared total war on the kidnappers and cultists that have laid siege on Kogi state.

Ogun monarch dies at 89
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Olu of Arigbajo in Ifo local government area of Ogun state, Oba Timothy Oluwole Sunday Mosaku, passed away, according to a statement released by his family.
The revered monarch, who was born in 1936, joined his ancestors after decades of dedicated service to his community and the traditional institution.
The family of the late Oba Mosaku confirmed the burial arrangements in a release.
