The online portal, available here, allows users to begin their registration seamlessly, eliminating the need for physical visits to NHIS offices.

The integration of NIN into the enrolment process is expected to streamline verification and enhance data accuracy across the health insurance system.

Health policy analysts have noted that this digital shift could mark a turning point in Nigeria’s efforts to achieve universal health coverage, particularly for underserved populations in remote areas.

The announcement has been met with cautious optimism, as stakeholders await further details on implementation and accessibility for those with limited internet connectivity.

Nonetheless, the move signals a clear intent by the federal government to modernise public health infrastructure and reduce barriers to essential services.
