Three Labourers Brutally Killed in Lagos Makeshift Apartment

Tragedy struck on Sunday at Olateju Street, Lekki Phase One, Lagos, as three male labourers were discovered dead in their makeshift apartment.

The victims, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were casual workers known in the neighbourhood for running errands and taking up daily labour jobs.

Residents narrate what happened

Residents said the attack happened while the men were asleep. Armed assailants were reported to have forced their way into the makeshift structure before dragging the occupants outside and inflicting multiple machete cuts on them.

One resident, Alfred, who requested anonymity, said the incident was shocking to many who were familiar with the victims’ humble lifestyle.

“The boys lived in a makeshift structure erected on the premises of a building on the street. We knew them to be labourers who also ran errands for people. But on Sunday morning, one of their colleagues who also stayed around there raised the alarm over an attack on the boys.
When people rushed there, the three of them were found lying in a pool of blood with machete cuts all over their bodies. We were told the assailants dragged them out of the room before killing them,” he said.

Unprecedent attack unsettles residents

Another resident, who is a member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association, described the killings as unprecedented in the community.

He said the incident had heightened fears among residents and prompted an immediate review of local security arrangements.

“We are now more cautious with the security situation around here. Security measures are also being stepped up as I speak to you,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, the motive for the killings remained unclear. Some community members suggested it could be connected to cult-related violence or unresolved disputes involving the deceased, although these claims have not been officially confirmed.

Skit maker hacked to death in Ibeju-Lekki

The gruesome discovery comes weeks after a skit maker, simply identified as Austin, was hacked to death in Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki. That case was also linked to suspected cultists who dragged the victim out of his residence before killing him with machetes.

The latest incident has left many residents of Lekki Phase One unsettled, with community leaders urging law enforcement agencies to intensify patrols and investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Another body recovered from Lagos lagoon

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) had confirmed the recovery of a second victim from last weekend’s accident on the Third Mainland Bridge.
