President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former House of Representatives member, as the new executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The presidency, in a statement on Monday, August 11, explained that the former federal lawmaker was appointed as a successor to Muheeba Dankaka, “whose tenure was dogged by controversy.” Earlier reports indicated that the presidency retained the Dankaka, but the government immediately reversed the announcement.

Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu's special adviser on information and strategy, disclosed that the president also appointed Mohammed Musa as secretary to the commission and retained Kayode Oladele, another former House of Representatives member, as a commissioner from Ogun.
It was disclosed that the president had appointed Oladele to serve as the acting chairman of the commission in 2024. President Tinubu also renewed the appointment of Abubakar Atiku Bunu as Kebbi's commissioner, Lawal Ya'u Ronu and Eludayo Eluyemi as commissioners representing Jigawa and Osun States. Also, Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawalla was reappointed as the commissioner representing Lagos.

Tinubu announces fresh appointment for Abiola's daughter
Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu has announced a fresh appointment for Rinsola Abiola, the daughter of the late democracy hero, MKO Abiola.
The young Abiola, who has been serving as SSA to Tinubu, was promoted by the president as the DG of the CLTC.
Abiola's appointment came just one month after President Tinubu gave an appointment to Mohammed Babangida, son of former President Ibrahim Babangida.
