The hybrid panel, convened by Avon HMO as the healthcare partner of the NBCC will have on stage, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi; Medical Director/CEO of First Cardiology Consultants, Dr Adeyemi Johnson and Founder/CEO of Doctoral, Dr Debo Odulana to discuss the topic, “Healthcare in Nigeria: Beyond the Crisis.”

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Avon HMO, Adesimbo Ukiri, who will be moderating the panel, the session was conceived to discuss learnings from various players in the healthcare value chain two years into the Covid-19 pandemic and explore how they can be used as building blocks of an improved health sector in Nigeria.

Since the first case of Covid-19 in Nigeria was announced on February 27th, 2020, our health sector has gone through one of its toughest battles in the history of the country. This pandemic has impacted private and public sector players differently and many lessons have been learned across the board. As we’re now in an era of ‘living alongside the pandemic’ while still looking for ways to defeat it, we think it’s important for us to have conversations about where we are today and what the future holds for us as a sector.”

The session, which is set to hold on Wednesday, March 23rd by 10 AM, will also highlight some of the initiatives being undertaken by the various players to improve the sector and address the weaknesses exposed by the pandemic. This, Ukiri says will put the healthcare sector in a better position to respond to similar challenges in future.
