Chief Kanran’s Family Announces When He Will Be Buried: "He'll Be Missed"

The Yoruba movie industry is preparing to bid farewell to one of its most iconic figures, Chief Kanran, born Olusegun Akinremi.

His family had confirmed burial plans following his passing.

The legendary actor died on August 15 at the age of 70.

His death was announced by film executive Seun Oloketuyi.

According to an official obituary released by his family, Chief Kanran will be buried at Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos State, on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The ceremonies began with a wake-keep and artistic night on Thursday, September 11, where colleagues, fans, and family members gathered to honour his life and towering contribution to theatre and film.

Femi Adebayo mourns Chief Kanran

Meanwhile, actor Femi Adebayo Salami has paid tribute to the late Kanran

Femi, who is the brain behind the hit movie Seven Doors, disclosed that he was still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Chief Kanran.

Mourning the late actor, Femi described his death as overwhelming, as Chief Kanran had just completed his last acting performance on one of his projects.

Sharing pictures of the late Chief Kanran on his movie sets, Femi Adebayo wrote in a caption,

"Still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Chief Segun Kehinde AkinRemi 💔 @chiefkanran This loss is particularly overwhelming, as he had only just concluded his last acting performance on one of my projects. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus, be with his family, and give them the strength to carry through this loss. Rest well, sir."

The late actor emphasised the need to promote Nigerian culture and attire after some of his colleagues attended the event in English outfits.

US-based woman calls out Kanran

Legit.ng also reported that a US-based woman commented on Chief Kanran's interview with Pastor Gabriel on social media.
