The vice president of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, played host to Nigerian skit makers under the umbrella of the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards (NSIA) on Wednesday, November 3, in Aso Rock, Abuja.

The group of young talented Nigerians was led by their promoter, Hon Bimbo Daramola.

While addressing them, Osinbajo commended the creativity of the skit makers. A statement made public by Laolu Akande stated that he said:

“I strongly believe that what our young people are doing and what they are capable of, is what will lead our country to where we are meant to be. The future is not tomorrow, it is already here and we can see it from just everything you are doing, the global acclaim that you are getting; young people like yourselves, doing something good.”

Skit makers at the meeting include Maryam Apaokagi (Taooma); Josh Alfred (Josh2funny); Ayo Ajewole (Woli Agba); Adebamiro Adeyanju (Mr. Hyenana), Adeoye Adeyemi Elesho (Yemi Elesho), among others.

Among the issues discussed were the issue of policemen and other antigraft agencies harassing the Nigerian youths, the popular Twitter ban, and improving the Nigerian public education system.

The visit was greeted with mixed feelings by Nigerians, some believed the skit makers are incomplete without Mr Macaroni and Broda Shaggi while others applauded Osinbajo for meeting with some representatives of the youths.
