Elsie Okpocha, ex-wife of Nigerian comedian Basketmouth, has spoken out following viral claims about the real reason behind their marriage crash.
The reports, which have been circulating across social media, alleged that the couple’s union ended over paternity fraud, claiming Basketmouth was not the biological father of Elsie’s children.
Reacting via her Instagram story, Elsie questioned the authenticity of the claims and whether her ex-husband had ever made such a statement.

“All you Facebook bloggers fabricating lies. Is Basketmouth aware he made that statement??” she wrote.
Beyond denying the allegation, Elsie issued a strong warning to content creators spreading the story.
While she admitted that public figures often face false narratives, she made it clear that her children should not be dragged into the situation.
“You can make up unimaginable stories about me, but please leave my kids out of this nonsense!” she added.
The controversy began after reports surfaced claiming that the end of her marriage to Basketmouth was linked to paternity issues.
The claim suggested that the comedian discovered he was not the father of the children, an allegation that has now been publicly challenged by Elsie.
So far, there has been no confirmation from Basketmouth regarding the claim.
Recall that in 2023, Basketmouth announced the end of his marriage to Elsie in a brief statement shared on Instagram.
At the time, he emphasised their commitment to peacefully co-parenting their children and appealed to the public to respect their privacy.

The comedian graced the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA), which took place on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
Sharing some lovely pictures from the ceremony, the father of three posted a photo collage of himself and his 'award'. In the caption of his post, he mentioned that he was standing beside his own award at the event.
In the pictures shared by the comedian, he was posing with his colleague, Victoria Eze, whom he referred to as his award at the AMVCA.
In one of the photos, the two of them were holding hands and smiling at each other. Another photo captured the moment they stood very close together.

Basketmouth's ex-wife reacts to message from an admirer
Legit.ng previously reported that Elsie, Basketmouth's former wife, cried out over the kind of messages she gets from men willing to date her.
In a post she made, she noted that her direct message was only open for business and warned that anything other thing apart from that was not welcome.
She begged them in the name of God to stop sending her messages, as they are clogging her direct message on social media.
