The Nigerian movie industry is in mourning as colleagues of veteran actress Peju Ogunmola rally around her following the heartbreaking death of her only son, Ayomikun Oluwanisola.

News of Ayomikun’s passing surfaced on Tuesday, leaving both colleagues and fans in deep shock.

Since then, Nollywood stars have flooded social media with emotional tributes, offering words of comfort to the bereaved actress.

Actress Biola Adebayo was among the first to confirm the tragedy in a sorrowful Instagram post.

She wrote:

“This is a big loss. This is devastating and heartbreaking. This is tragic. May God almighty comfort Mummy Peju Ogunmola who just lost her only child,” she wrote, calling for prayers for the family.

Actor Odunlade Adekola also shared a message of condolence, saying,

“This is a big loss. God will console you ma …… and the whole family. E le yi po oo.”

In the same vein, Kunle Afod admitted that his heart had been heavy since hearing the news, capturing the sorrow felt across the industry.

For Femi Adebayo, the loss was one too heavy for words.

He wrote:

“Life has written a line too heavy for the stage… Today, we mourn with our dear elder, a thespian whose heart now carries the weight no mother should bear. My thoughts and prayers are with you ma. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus"

Actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele D Icon, added,

“A mother’s pain in losing her child is beyond words. Olorun ma fi ina omo jo gbogbo abiamo.”

Muyiwa Ademola confessed that he was short of words in trying to console his colleague.

“This is sad! It broke the heart. No accurate words of condolences. The only one to console you is God! May the Almighty be with you, Aunty. This is too much to shoulder, too much to bear. It is well.”

Adedimeji Lateef also described the tragedy as “pain beyond words,” praying for strength for the Ogunmola family.

Legit.ng earlier reported Peju Ogunmola's last birthday message to her late son.

In her 2024 birthday message, the Nollywood actress expressed her love for her son, accompanied by a heartfelt promise.

She stated:

"Happy birthday to my amazing son @ayomeekun I’m so happy to be in your life as your mother,Yes! You’re a little older, but still my baby boy. May you make the absolute most out of this year and get absolutely everything you want in God’s name🙏❤️. I love you till death my darling son!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU OLUWASINAAYOMI."
