Nurses play vital role - Peter Obi
Obi made the donations to the two schools during a visit to the state on Friday, August 8.
As reported by The News Agency of Nigeria, Obi donated the sum of N10 million to the nursing school and N5 million to the Quranic School.
Speaking at the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, the presidential hopeful said that nurses have been playing a vital role in the country’s health sector.
As reported by The Punch, Peter Obi said:
“You are very important to society, you are very important to this country called Nigeria and if there is anything we can do to support what you are doing, we need to do it.
“Today, we know that the number one measure of success of any nation is health and you can’t measure health without thinking of the human infrastructure.
“The nurse is important. The nurse knows the patient, the nurse owns the patient, the nurse is everything.”

According to him, he has visited and supported about 70 nursing schools annually as part of support to the health sector.
Responding, the proprietors of the schools, Aminu Danmaliki and Alh Usman Abubakar, lauded Obi for the kind gesture and promised that the money would be judiciously used for the betterment of the schools.

Similarly, Legit.ng reported that Peter Obi of the Labour Party raised concerns as he made a huge donation to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
Obi donated N15 million to the faculty for the upgrade of their laboratory and to scale up the department’s graduation and induction quota as part of their re-accreditation process.
The former governor of Anambra state announced the donation on Friday, shared photos of his visit to the institution, and lamented the decay in health institutions across the country.

In a related development, Legit.ng reported that Peter Obi donated N5 million and a bus to enhance learning in the Grimard School of Nursing Science in Kogi state.
Obi disclosed that the donations were a fulfilment of his earlier promise made to the college during his earlier visit in July 2024.
The former governor of Anambra state confirmed the development in a post shared on his social media page.
