The Nation reports that following another air operation during the weekend, ground forces moved into the creeks and recovered pictures and a register containing names of suspected militants.

The soldiers also destroyed about 97 camps in the enclave.

A military source that spoke on the condition of anonymity said that there was a strong smell of decomposing body which indicated that fleeing militants took with them the bodies of their dead comrades.

Some items found are three laptops, expended magazines, an AK47 rifle and police and military uniforms.

“The recovered items will aid the investigation by the DSS and enable them to go after and apprehend the suspects.”

The source also disclosed that the registrar showed that the militants were organised as they usually signed in and out

“In one of the registers there are about 450 names on it.”

He added that “the police and army uniforms found had no names on them. We saw a lot of personal effects and I can tell you that the militants suffered casualties because of the stench coming out of the camps.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has released a statement assuring residents in the Arepo region to go about their normal duties in the wake of bombing of militants’ hideouts.

During the weekend, residents were tensed with the sudden activities of fighter aircraft in the region in Lagos and there were fears that innocent persons might be caught in the attack.

While there has been no record of any wrong target or causality, the air force in a bid to keep the people abreast of the situation assured them that the pilots were professionals who understood how to handle such situations.
