COEASU Suspends 7-month Strike

Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) President, Dr Emmanuel Asage, has declared that the union's seven months' strike has been suspended.

 

Dr Emmanuel revealed to newsmen that the union has decided to suspend the strike so as to allow the newly appointed Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau ample time to work on the union's demand.

The  COEASU president made it known that the suspension is just for three months to allow Minister Shekarau who got appointed by the presidency who took up the political seat from Mr. Nyesom Wike to be able to prove his effectiveness few days in office. It would be recalled that COEASU members took to streets of Abuja on June 20, 2014 to protest Federal Government’s failure to meet their demands.
