The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been investigating how the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) shared $2.1 billion in funds meant for fighting Boko Haram, and a lot of top politicians have been implicated.

Reportedly Obaigbena received at least N650m from Dasuki for questionable transactions.

The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) which comprises owners of newspapers in Nigeria, has also been accused of having received a share of the funds meant for arms purchases.

The NPAN was said to have received N120 million from Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) , the former national security adviser.

In reaction, the association said it was not aware the money was from the office of the NSA, adding that it collected the money and distributed it to some of its members as an out of court settlement after the military stopped the distribution of some papers in 2014.
