'Don’t Link Owerri Church Bomb Scare To Boko Haram Yet' - Police

The Nigerian police has advised that Nigerians not to link the bomb scare at Winners Chapel Church in Owerri on Sunday June 15th to the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists as investigations are still on-going.

The Police Force spokesperson, Frank Mba made this statement during a press conference organized by the National Information Centre, Abuja yesterday, June 16 saying:

Meanwhile the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has threatened to bring down Nigeria if any bomb explosion goes off in the Southeast. 

It would be recalled that on Sunday morning, June 15, the Imo police averted an explosion in Winners Chapel, Port Harcourt which house over 2,000 people.

The Police had arrived the scene after being alerted of the suspicious object only to discover the "Improvised Explosive Devices in forms of refrigerator compressor concealed in sack bags" and detonated them.

Meanwhile it has been that 6 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
