Boko Haram Kill Over 15 In Daku Village Of Borno State

From 15 to 25 people were reportedly killed yesterday morning in a fresh Boko Haram attack on a local market in Daku village, Askira/Uba LGA, Borno State.

The gunmen carrying AK-47 rifles and explosives were said to have invaded the village, which is 190 kilometres away from the state capital Maiduguri, early Sunday and started shooting and razing the market structures.

The village source told Punch that 15 people were killed. The correspondent's attempts to contact both the police and military yielded no results. 

Meanwhile Leadership reports with reference to the official of the Nigeria vigilante that 25 people were shot dead and many others injured.

According to the locals, the attackers carted away some food and money and then ran away to Sambisa forest, the insurgents' well-known hideout.

On the same day the United States, whose troops currently assist Nigeria in the rescue operation of the schoolgirls abducted more than 2 months ago in Chibok town of the state, urged the Federal Government to establish a National Victims Fund for the rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram’s horrific violence.

Speaking with newsmen at the news conference, the US delegates explained that the establishment of such Fund was an important step in helping the sect victims torecover from the dire experience.
