Boko Haram Kill 51 In Borno villages

Gunmen suspected to be the deadly Boko haram sects in the early hours of May 28, yesterday, attacked Borno State Gurmushi village, Marte LGA in Borno State killing no fewer than 51 people, injuring 21 people.

Villagers for fear of their lives and with their houses burnt have fled the village taking refuge in Cameroun Republic.

This is coming two days after the Insurgents were reported to have taken over Borno villages, killed 9 people, burnt housesand injured several people in an attack.

One woman who spoke to BBC Hausa Service monitored in Maiduguri, yesterday, said:  “I counted over 40 bodies littered on the ground, while the village was razed down completely. Most of us ran into the bush for our safety.” She also said 12 people were injured.

The terrorists were also said to have yesterday stormed Amuda and Arbokko border villages in Toyota Hilux vehicles, motorcycles and an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC , killing nine residents.

Eyewitnesses say the gunmen came through the 16-kilometre Kughum-Pulka border road at 2am, and stormed the two neigbouring villages, firing indiscriminately at fleeing residents.

“I cannot imagine how I escaped the attacks It was God that saved my life; otherwise I would have been shot dead in my burnt house. Two of my neighbours were shot while fleeing their houses. Others fell to the ground with sustained injuries,” Pirda Takweshe, a resident of Amuda, who escaped to Pulka said yesterday.

Over the past weeks, Borno state has been under heavy attacks by the Boko Haram sects killing hundreds of people in several attacks. The same sect abducted over 200 Government Girls Secondary Students on April 14 in Chibok, Borno state.
