Ongoing National Conference Officially Extended By 4 Weeks

It has just been reported that the National Conference, which started on March 17 in Abuja, has been extended by 4 more weeks.

The conference chairman Idris Kutigi informed the delegates about such development today, May 22, Premium Times provides.

According to Kutigi, during the Wednesday night meeting between the conference leaders and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Pius Anyim, they initially requested the 6-week extension, however the government agreed on 4.

As the requested term was not given, the chairman said that delegates would have to work Fridays and Saturdays, which was strongly opposed by the conference attendees. This issue is still under discussion.

It would be recalled that in the beginning of the month we reported about the extension of the conference term by 6 weeks, which was allegedly contained in the work plan released to the delegates.
