ANTI-GAY BILL: Five Persons In Prison Over Sodomy & Gay Activities

Five persons have been arraigned by the Bauchi State Sharia’ah Com-mission before an Upper Shariah Court in Bauchi over charges of sodomy and gay activities.

It was gathered yesterday that those arraigned include; Aliyu Dalhatu, 22, Yusuf Adamu, 25, Aminu Ibrahim Sadiq, 24, and Ibrahim Marafa, 47.

Arraigning the suspects on behalf of the counsel to the commission, Barrister Dayyabu Ayuba, the prosecuting counsel, Alhassan Zakariyya, said the action of the suspects contravened Section 133 of the Sharia Penal Code law. Four of them pleaded guilty while Ibrahim Marafa pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Judge Barrister El-Yakub Aliyu, ordered that they be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to January 23 for those that pleaded guilty.
