Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko Refuses To Pay NYSC Members
Social and mass media, as it turns out, have many negative aspects. However, their primary and main principles are connecting people, conveying information and providing the voiceless with the right to speak up. We are glad to be the platform through which you, our cherished readers, can deliver your message to masses.
Today, we would like to draw your attention to the message sent to our Facebook inbox by a reader who prefers to stay anonymous. They decry non-payment of allowance to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members by Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko. We hope that this information will be noticed, and appropriate measures taken! Read the full text below:
Governor Mimiko owes all Corp members, who passed out in 2013, state allowance (namely, 12A, 12B and 12C). Normally, the Government pays those who serve in Government parastatals, but he refuses to pay. There are no means of contacting him. And we shouldn't be cheated! 2013 ends in just TWO days' time, what do we do?
We thank our reader for the message, and ask: CAN BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM?
UPDATE: Since we published this story earlier in the day today, we got some mail where a number of people confirmed the story. We publish some of the responses.

I am driven to equally report that River State Government is, till date, yet to pay all batch A, B, and C corps members who served in Rivers State in 2012, their allowances.
More saddening is the fact that nothing is being said about it.
In a country where unemployment no longer wears dark shades, this money would have been a lifeline as unemployed graduates could use it to finance some trade and become relevant in the society rather than remain liabilities to their families.
Kindly help publish as I hope it gets to the relevant authorities and something is done fast about it.

It's not just Ondo state that is owing ex-corps members. Rivers State where I served has not paid the accumulated state allowance of all corps members that passed out of service this year. I really don't know the reason for the delay.
