Wife accuses husband of infecting her with STD's

A housewife, Azeezat Ayinde, on Tuesday urged an Igando Customary Court, Lagos to dissolve her six-year-old marriage to her husband, Mohammed because he infects her with sexually transmitted diseases (STD).

Azeezat, 32, who is a teacher, alleged that Mohammed was a womaniser and constantly had extra-marital affairs that had led to her constant visits to the hospital to treating infections.

“I have been in and out of hospital treating STDs like gonorrhea, staphylococcus and other infectious diseases due to my husband’s unfaithfulness.

“My husband used to invite a lady in my absence, I have caught them inside our room on different occasions. He always tells me she is his friend’s wife that she is always lonely that is why he always invite her to our house to keep her company,’’ she said.

Azeezat said she had been the one taking care of the children school fees and feeding that her husband did not care.

The mother of two, begged the court to dissolve the six year-old marriage, stressing that she was tired of spending money on STDs.

“I am no longer interested in the union, am fed up on spending the money I suppose to use on food and clothes on treating infections,’’ she said.

Mohammed, 40, admitted Mohammed that ladies always come to their house claiming they were his wife’s friends.

The respondent, who is an engineer, said that “her friends always visit me whenever my wife was not around. I don’t have anything to do with them,’’ he said.

Mohammed consented to the dissolution of their marriage, saying he was no longer interested in the union.

The court president, Mr R.I Adeyeri, adjourned the case to Jan.20, for judgment.
