Kwankwaso Promises 740 Jobs

No fewer than 740 Kano State indigenes would be given jobs by the state government.

This was revealed by the Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwso at the launch of 37 Microfinance banks across the local government areas of the state yesterday.

“We have observed that 13 local government areas have no single commercial bank, which is unfortunate considering our laudable programmes towards poverty eradication,’’ governor Kwankwaso said.

He lamented that there were only eight Microfinance banks in seven local government areas hence the state government liaised with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to establish one in the remaining 37 local government areas.

Governor Kwankwaso who distributed appointment letters to 10 managers of the banks warned them to be honest, dedicated and avoid any form of fraudulent practices.

“The governor will personally keep watchful eyes on the functions of these Microfinance banks to ensure success,’’ he said.

In a brief remark, the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi described Microfinance banks as avenues toward poverty eradication worldwide.

He said the apex bank noted the Kano State government’s efforts toward poverty alleviation for which the Microfinance banks were approved.

In a related development governor Kwankwaso distributed 1,000 brand new Toyota Corolla motor vehicles to potential drivers in the state under the new Amana transportation programme to ease transportation difficulties and afford employment to the citizenry.
