Sophia Momodu Recounts How She Never Wanted Imade to Take Davido’s Surname, Says ‘I Was Pained’

Singer Davido’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu, recently organised a question and answer session on her Instastory channel and gave some of her followers an opportunity to satisfy their curiosity.

The mother of one seemed to have come across a controversial topic about a child’s surname in situations where the parents are not married or do not have the intention of doing so.

Sophia went on to ask her followers if they think it’s a great idea for mothers to let the child bear the father’s last name or insist that the child carries their own maiden name.

Interestingly, before other people flooded her DM with their responses, Sophia was nice enough to set the mood with her personal experience with singer Davido.

Sophia disclosed that she never wanted her child, Imade, to bear her father’s surname.

She wrote:

"I was genuinely distraught. I was even arguing and everything that they put her father’s full name and not a single letter from mine."

In a different slide, Sophia shared the response of a follower who noted that such things as the child’s inheritance, lineage must be considered.

She added that these were some of the points her family members raised that made her keep quiet about Imade taking the Momodu surname instead of her father’s own.
