When they say everything was beautiful in Nigeria many years ago, it may not entirely be nostalgia. Photos showing Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife in 1975 and 1976 somewhat support that.

Sharing the snaps on Twitter, a handle @TheGreatIFE said that the former Western Region governor, Sir Adesoji Aderemi, graced the school's 1976 graduation ceremony in his Rolls Royce.

For someone who is familiar with the university setting, nothing seems to have changed much in its environment in decades.

An aerial view of the school's Road 1 showing the Senate building and Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library looks exactly the same.

Another astounding thing is that the curb lawns still look freshly tendered as if the photo was presently taken. The passageway between the Moremi hostel maintains its look, if not cleaner than it is now.
