Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers is suspecting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has a hand in the delay of the passage of the electoral bill.
Wike told journalists on Tuesday, April 27, that the ruling party is behind this because it intends to manipulate the 2023 general elections, The Cable reports.

The Rivers governor claimed that it is now clear to the APC that no right-thinking Nigerian will vote for it again, hence its plot to employ rigging in future elections.
He added that the APC, due to its failure, is afraid of credible elections which will be ensured by the passage of the bill.
His claim:
“No reasonable Nigerian will say I want this APC government to come back in 2023. And therefore, what we do to make sure there is no credible election is to make sure we do not allow this amendment of the electoral act that ought to give us a credible, free and fair election.
“So that they will be able to manipulate the 2023 elections. It is very clear. I’m surprised Mr President will not even champion it to say ‘look I promised Nigeria that one thing I must leave in office even before anything’; ‘I must give Nigeria, free and credible elections."
Earlier, Wike on Tuesday, April 20, expressed his displeasure over the state of things in Nigeria under the leadership of the APC-led federal government.
The Rivers governor clearly stated that he does want the ruling party to succeed because it has failed the electorate which voted it into power.
