Former Senator Begs Another Social Media Giant to Establish Office in Kaduna as Twitter Snubs Nigeria

Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has begged Snap Inc, the American company that owns Snapchat, a popular multimedia messaging app, to establish its office in Kaduna state when it decides to come to Africa.

Sani made the plea in a tweet sighted by Legit.ng which he posted on Tuesday, April 13.

The tweet simply reads:

"Dear @Snapchat, come to Kaduna and establish your office. Thank you in anticipation."

Senator Sani's tweet has sparked some reactions as some Twitter users highlighted why Snapchat may not consider the former lawmaker's plea if at all it is interested in opening an African office.

Johnfamous, @Johnfam88693075, said:

"Only if you want bandits to kidnap their staffs. Let's fix the country and make a better policy that will attract foreign investors and they will be willing to do business."

John Ikhiboya, @sirimoikor, said:

"No one will come to an unsecured country to do business. That's why twitter choosed (sic) Ghana ahead of us."

Hetybabe, @hetybabe, commented:

"So that they will kidnap all their staff? Let Nigeria fix itself and return to it's (sic) former glory or future so that investors will come and invest in peace and not fear of being killed or kidnap"

Legit.ng notes that the activist's tweet comes as Twitter, the American micro-blogging and social networking service, selected Ghana as the headquarters for its operations in Africa.

The company's CEO Jack Dorsey made this known in a tweet on Monday, April 12, just as he thanked Ghana and the West African country's president, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Meanwhile, the decision of Twitter to make Ghana its African HQ has also caused a lot of reactions on social media as many Nigerians unhappy about the development were apportioning blames.

To many Nigerians, the decision to snub the most populated black country on earth is due to the many problems afflicting it.

Specifically, many are blaming the All Progressives Congress (APC) government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari for the development.
