BREAKING: Chaos as thugs steal ballot boxes at PDP zonal congress in northern state

- Thugs forced the PDP zonal congress held in Kaduna to end in chaos

Thugs succeeded in disrupted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) northwest zonal congress in Kaduna held on Saturday, April 10, as they stole and fled with ballot boxes.

Daily Trust reports that before this ensued, supporters of major contended in the congress were engaged in physical combat.

It was gathered that the criminals unleashed terror a few minutes after the voting exercise commenced.

So far, nothing is known about who sponsored the hoodlums or their whereabouts; moreover, the police command in the state is yet to confirm the ugly development.

Meanwhile, a substance suspected to be a bomb has exploded at the Umuola Hall, Ward 8, Ogbor Hill, Aba North council, at the bye-election into the Aba North/South federal constituency seat.

Thankfully, no life was lost, but electoral materials were scattered as workers, voters and party agents scampered to safety.

Security agents were said to have visited the area and restored order while voting had restarted.

A voter, who gave his Chinedu Eze said they were on queue when a loud sound enveloped the area and everyone fled.

His words:

“We were on queue; some people were being accredited to cast their votes when we heard a loud sound. Everybody took to their heels. It was a bomb and we didn’t know where it came from.”
