In the light of the recent drama her relationship with the media personality faced on social media, the woman made sure to share a medical report detailing the physical assault she suffered in the marriage.

Benedicta Elechi decided to mark International Women’s Day in a unique way. In an Instagram post, she explained that the fundamental rights of women in Nigeria were non-existent.

In her post, she said that a moment of silence should be observed for fearless women who have fought and continue to fight to bring an end to archaic practices that have enslaved women for decades.

Further in her post, she wrote:

“But no, as women, living in this part of the world, it will be hypocritical for us to partake in this celebration.

"This day should mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity, gender equality and reforms that will protect our fundamental rights as women. We owe it to the girl child.”
