Serena Williams is one of the many celebrities who have headed online to publicly show support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the former royals did an interview with Oprah Winfrey and revealed a number of their struggles while serving in the royal family.
"Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life - and leads by example - with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every dat what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she's experienced." wrote Williams.
She then goes on to reflect how, like Markle, she has been subjected to sexism and racism as well as unfair scrutiny under the watchful eyes of the media. She then calls on people to stand against tabloid journalism and the results of harmful gossip to help bring an end to the unfair treatment of women and people from certain racial groups.
Tweeps had this to say about the tweet:
"She marries into a family, cannot adapt, knew she would have to, culturally different as it is for so many, ergo she then reports being a victim, with the drama of a poorly produced soap opera, disgusting. I recall you being supportive some time back, hypocritical."
Female author carries cardboard, begs for sponsors for her book, shares her phone number, stirs huge reactions
Alexa Sommers Kiss mark said:
"Exactly why should any woman have to "adapt" to fit the expectations of her husband's family Perhaps check your outdated sexist views at the door before commenting?"
"I had to stop watching when she talked about feeling suicidal. I had postpartum depression after giving birth. I suffered in silence for a long time, because I was ashamed to ask for help. She asked for help and was shamed for it. #MeghanMarkle #MentalHealthMatters."
"Truth to power. This is the kind of change driven by women supporting each other."

Legit.ng previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently did an exclusive interview with TV giant, Oprah Winfrey. This was said to be first television interview the couple had since they shocked the world and stepped away from their royal obligations for good.
In a short snippet of the highly-anticipated interview, which was shared on Twitter by CBS, Prince Harry reveals that he has harboured fears that his mother, Princess Diana's horrible car crash may materialise and repeat itself in his and Meghan's life.
The beautiful and probably most popular couple in the royal family who are holding hands while seated next to one another during the interview also spoke to Oprah about expecting their second baby and being happy to have each other to rely on.
