Serena Williams is one of the many celebrities who have headed online to publicly show support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the former royals did an interview with Oprah Winfrey and revealed a number of their struggles while serving in the royal family.

"Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life - and leads by example - with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every dat what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she's experienced." wrote Williams.

She then goes on to reflect how, like Markle, she has been subjected to sexism and racism as well as unfair scrutiny under the watchful eyes of the media. She then calls on people to stand against tabloid journalism and the results of harmful gossip to help bring an end to the unfair treatment of women and people from certain racial groups.
