A proud woman, Dr Reneé Minnaar, recently headed to Facebook to share with Varsity World an inspiring post about how despite it taking her 15 years to achieve, she finally got a PhD three years ago.

She wrote:

"Would you work 15 years - that's 5 475 days - to achieve your dream? I still get chills thinking about my PhD graduation day in 2017 - celebrating my 15 years of hard work. It's a feeling of accomplishment that is hard to put into words.

"YOUR dream may be non-academic, but my question is, what would YOU do to achieve your dream?
"On your way to your dream - take an unpaid internship, volunteer at a non-profit, start a small business, offer your help, find a mentor, gain work and life experience while you are job hunting... Use the skills, knowledge and resources that you have."
