Excitement as Man City legend set to kickoff coaching career in Europe

- Yaya Toure will be moving to Ukraine to start his coaching career

Three-time Premier League winner Yaya Toure looks ready to become a football manager for the first time this year.

The Manchester City legend will be joining the coaching staff of Ukrainian side Olympic Donetsk having already bagged his pro license.

After leaving Chinese club side Qingdao Huanghai in January 2020, the former Barcelona midfielder has not been seen on the pitch - meaning he might have hanged his professional boots.

The one-time Champions League winner is expected to return to Ukraine having played in the country early in his career.

Toure was said to have spent one-and-a-half years at Metalruh Donetsk between but the club hit the wall in 2015 as reported by SunSport quoting Profutbol Digital reports.

The Ivorian was rumoured to have retired in 2019 but he quickly debunked the claims through his representatives and he went on to play until early last year.

Meanwhile, Dimitry Seluk seems to have confirmed the new development and was quoted as saying:

"He will become a member of Olympic Donetsk's coaching staff. Yaya Toure used to play for FC Metallurg. This club does not exist anymore, but there is FC Olympic.
"Therefore, it is symbolic that he will start his coaching career with this club. Toure is not applying for the position of head coach.
"Yaya is just studying. He has a license, but he still needs to study in order to improve his skills, and he will go to Kyiv in order to study."

Toure was spotted training with League Two side Leyton Orient last summer but nothing concrete came out of that.

He won six league titles during his career - which included eight seasons at the Etihad - as well as the Champions League with Barca in 2009.

He also bagged the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015 with his Ivory Coast team-mates.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami have appointed Manchester United legend Phil Neville as their new head coach.

The 43-year-old former Everton defender had to step down from his role with the England women's senior national team to join the Miami-based professional soccer club this month.

Neville was in charge of the Lioness for about three years having been appointed in January 2018 and he helped them win the SheBelieves Cup in 2019.
