- Arsenal convincingly defeated Newcastle United 3-0 in a one-sided Premier League fixture
- The Gunners have now gone five consecutive games in all competitions without conceding a goal
- It is the first time the Gunners will reach such a feat since February 2009
Arsenal put up a spectacular performance on Monday night, January 18, following their 3-0 win over Newcastle United as the Premier League season reaches midway.
A second-half brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka's goal proved to be decisive as resurgent Gunners stunned the Magpies at the Emirates.
The victory means Mikel Arteta's men have now gone five matches in all competitions without conceding a goal since 2009.
Gunners have kept five consecutive clean sheets in all competitions for the first time since February 2009 (6 in total in that run).
They have now moved to the top half of the Premier League with 27 points to occupy the 10th position.
In-form defender, David Luiz earlier claimed that it is difficult to maintain clean sheets in a league as tough as the Premier League.
He told Arsenal.com:
"It's always difficult against a strong opponent with a low block, just waiting for the counter-attacks.
"OK, I'm happy [with the clean sheet] but I prefer to win rather than just keeping a clean sheet.
"Of course for the long process it's always good to continue to keep clean sheets and improve our defensive side, but I will always trade a clean sheet for a victory because I prefer the collective."
Meanwhile, Turkish side Fernahbahce have posted awesome photos of Mesut Ozil wearing the club's tracksuit ahead of his official unveiling of the German.
Ozil found it difficult to break into Arsenal first team since his former teammate Mikel Arteta became the manager at the Emirates stadium.

Despite calls by many Arsenal legends and past players for Arteta to restore the playmaker back in the first team, the Spaniard failed to give the German the green light; he has however dumped the club and moved to Turkey.
However, Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League match-week 18 presented fans with exciting results as the title race shapes up, with Manchester City closing in on the gap between them and leaders United to just two points.
Despite settling for a goalless draw at Anfield against rivals Liverpool, Manchester United remain top on the standings with 37 points.
United went into the Sunday evening, January 17, match keen to post a favourable result to cement their place on the summit.
