- Umar Ardo has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for showing ingratitude
- The former aide to ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar said he was completely shunned after investing heavily on Buhari's dreams
- Ardo said instead of Buhari to "follow what he preaches" and give him "protection", he rejected him
Umar Ardo, a former aide to ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, has told President Muhammadu Buhari to follow what he preaches by showing gratitude to those who helped him to achieve power.
Ardo's swipe at Buhari came days after the president told the Nigerian elites to be fair in their criticism of his government.
In a statement, the former aide accused the president of forgetting his political allies who have been staying with him and helped him to defeat Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
Ardo said he was the centre-figure of Buhari's presidential aspiration in 2011, helping him with "new ideas (strategy), new vigour and contacts, and other real and tangible values to his political aspiration."

He lamented that he sourced "for the funding" of the president's campaign in 2015, also bragging that without him staying during the "intervening period" Buhari would not have become president, This Day reports.
"l was about his closest political confidant in the execution of the new strategy. And the result is what he is today-the president! Undoubtedly, without me doing what I did in this intervening period, Buhari would never have been the president of Nigeria in 2015 as it turned out.
“But what did l get in return on victory, rejection and total lockout. Astonishingly, I have till date not set my eyes on him from the day he was announced president-elect.
"The last time we communicated on phone was on the election day-March 28, 2015. For no fault of mine that I know, he has not even seen me to congratulate him on the victory l put in so much efforts for him to achieve, let alone giving me protection against his powerful opponents that l took on in the process."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Femi Adesina, a special adviser to President Buhari, showered a flurry of encomium on his principal when he marked his 78th birthday anniversary.
In a piece released by the president's media adviser on Thursday, December 17, titled "Buhari at 78: If only we knew this president", Adesina described him as "the ramrod straight man from Daura."
Adesina said since the president took over the helms of affairs in 2015, so many people "have chosen to believe the wrong things" about him and have "ossified their minds against the truth."
